All-Over Moisture Sticks Video and Tutorial

Hi there! Today I’d like to share one of my very favorite DIY’s that I use every day! These DIY All-Over Moisture Sticks are my go-to all year long- I literally use them all over, and every day! They make great gifts, too! I hope you love them as much as I do 🙂

To make it real easy, I’ve got a video, detailed instructions, along with links to the products I use, and a free, printable recipe!

You can watch the quick video tutorial here-

Here’s what you’ll need-

-3/4 Cup Coconut Oil

-1/4 Cup Beeswax– we have a renter that pays us in beeswax, but these pellets are easy to work with!

-1/4 Cup Tallow- Someday I’m going to render my own, but I love Corner Post tallow! Some of our beef go to them, so it’s even better that some of the tallow actually comes from our ranch 🙂

-1 Tablespoon Jojoba Oil

-Essential Oils of Choice -I use doTerra essential oils, and my current fave mixture is -15 drops Lavender, 10 drops Frankincense, 10 drops Melaleuca, and 3 drops Peppermint. Feel free to use any combo you’d like!

-A Double Boiler – You don’t need anything fancy 🙂 I use a pouring pot inside of a cheap little saucepan that I got from the thrift store. Fill your saucepan about half full of water and set your pouring pot inside.

Optional- A Drill with Mixing Attachment– You could mix this by hand, I’m just a power tool girl and this makes it real easy 🙂

-Containers of Choice- Feel free to get creative here! These are my 3 favorite sizes-

On the left are 2 oz containers– I love these! But, the price keeps going up, and since I give a lot of these as gifts to people who might not love them as much as I do, I’ve been using a lot more of the .5 oz, and chapstick size.

In the center are .5 oz size and they’re my go-to. The more you buy, the cheaper they get, so I order a bunch at a time.

On the right are standard chapstick size containers. These are awesome for samples, small pockets, and I always have some handy when I’m pouring a batch in case I end up with a little extra, but not enough to fill a larger container. These are very easy to find- and there’s more variety available.

*This recipe makes 14 of the .5 oz tubes, plus 1 chapstick tube. But, there are lots of combinations that would work, so do whatever works best for you 🙂

Let’s get started!

Place your Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Tallow, and Jojoba oil in the pouring pot, or inside pot of your double boiler.

Place your double boiler over medium heat until everything is melted.

Once everything is melted, remove from heat and mix it up! The drill is funnest, but you can mix by hand, too 🙂

Now, go ahead and add your essential oils.

Mix again, and it’s time to pour! I like to under-fill just a little on the first pour, because as these cool, the tops tend to sink. Save a little of your mixture, and remelt and pour the last bit after a few minutes. Don’t wait too long, though, or the newly poured bit won’t stick to the original.

See how the tops have settled? Go ahead and re-pour those tops now if you’ve got some of your mixture left.

Try not to overflow them like I often do 😉

Allow to cool completely, then cap and enjoy! You can label them if you’d like, too 🙂

I’d love to hear about your DIY Moisture Sticks! Let me know if you give them a try!
