DIY Rustic Stand

Hi there! Thanks for checking out my latest project! This is a super simple DIY that anyone can do. Somehow the salt and pepper always disappear on our breakfast counter, so I built this little stand to keep them easy to find. This also makes a great serving tray/stand for food, or anything you want to show off! A larger version of this would make a great cake stand, too.

Let’s get started!

All you’ll need is –

1- Scrap piece of 1″x12″

1- Scrap piece of 1″x6″

2- 3/4″ Floor Flanges

1- 3/4″x 8″ Steel Pipe Nipple

8- 3/4″ Screws

Jigsaw, Drill, Sander, and Clamps

Stain/Finish of Choice, and something to apply it with.

Once you’ve gathered up everything you’ll need, find the center of each of your scrap pieces of wood.

Now, using a protractor, or the old string and pencil trick- draw a circle on each piece. Try to get as close to the edge as possible without going over.

Now, cut each circle out using your jigsaw- or tool of choice. I clamped my circles to the table and rotated as I went.

Once your circles are cut, go ahead and sand them. Hopefully, your Jigsaw is better than mine and you don’t have to do much sanding 😉 At least I have a great sander!

Now you’re ready for finish! I used my favorite stain for this- Rustoeum Dark Walnut! It dries in an hour and is beautiful! I applied with a foam brush and wiped with paper towels to blend. Once dry, I gave it a quick distressing with my sander.

Last, we’ll add the hardware! So easy, just screw a flange in the center of each piece of wood.

And screw your steel nipple onto each piece!

Done! So easy, right?!

What’s your favorite use for this Cute, Rustic Stand? I’d love to hear if you make your own!
